The Peak District, Derbyshire and North Yorkshire are home to so many incredible countryside wedding venues, and if you're unsure about what kind of wedding you want or where to hold it, the sheer number of options can be overwhelming. It can also be a bit of a task if you’re not looking in the right places. Although I’ve only been in the wedding industry for a few years, I’ve had the chance to visit quite a few venues, and I have some personal favourites. Yes, they might be a little biased, but I thought I'd share them with you in this blog. You might discover some hidden gems you’ve never heard of, or perhaps see a venue styled for a wedding for the first time.

In this post, I’m focusing on wedding venues in the Peak District, Derbyshire and North Yorkshire. Oh my GOODNESS, I absolutely love the Peak District—how lucky am I that one of the most stunning areas is practically on my doorstep? There are some truly beautiful venues here, so I’ve rounded up my top picks for you. If you're in the midst of planning your wedding, I hope this gives you some inspiration. I’ve even added my own little rating system, just for fun—hope you enjoy!

Edale Gathering, Edale

Dog Friendly : Yes.

Disabled Access : Yes.

Weather Dependent : Not really, although it would be a shame to not enjoy the beautiful grounds.

Photo Ops : Spoilt for choice within the grounds but also very nearby to beautiful Peak District views.

Lighting : Fine!

Entertainment : Plenty of space for lawn games and a band in the evening.

Food : Will need to get external catering in.

Places to stay : Being on the outskirts of Sheffield there are loads of places to stay and in the near by villages.

Middleton Lodge, North Yorkshire

Dog Friendly : No.

Disabled Access : Yes.

Weather Dependent : Not really, although it would be a shame to not enjoy the beautiful grounds.

Photo Ops : Spoilt for choice within the grounds.

Lighting : Lots of natural light, espcially if you get to be outside.

Entertainment : Plenty of space.

Food : Provided by MIddleton Lodge.

Places to stay : There are loads of places to stay in the Middleton Lodge estate.

Dunston Hall, Derbyshire

Dog Friendly : Yes.

Disabled Access : Yes.

Weather Dependent : Not really, although it would be a shame to not enjoy the beautiful grounds.

Photo Ops : Spoilt for choice in the grounds and the actual house itself is beautiful.

Lighting : Nice and light.

Entertainment : Plenty of space for lawn games and a band in the evening.

Food : Provided by the hall.

Places to stay : Being on the outskirts of Sheffield there are loads of places to stay and in the near by villages.

Parr Green Hall

(Technically not The Peak District in the slightest but I love it and it needed a place to go)

Dog Friendly : Yes.

Disabled Access : Yes.

Weather Dependent : Not really, although it would be a shame to not enjoy the beautiful grounds.

Photo Ops : Spoilt for choice within the grounds.

Lighting : A bit dark in the reception room but not teh end of the world.

Entertainment : Plenty of space for lawn games and a band in the evening.

Food : Will need to get external catering in.

Places to stay : You can have a few people staying in the grounds themselves, you can even book it for a whole week!

Yorkshire Sculpture Park, North Yorkshire

Dog Friendly : Yes.

Disabled Access : Yes.

Weather Dependent : Not really, although it would be a shame to not enjoy the beautiful grounds.

Photo Ops : Spoilt for choice within the grounds.

Lighting : Lots of natural light, espcially if you get to be outside.

Entertainment : Plenty of space outside but a bit restricted inside.

Food : Provided by YSP.

Places to stay : There are loads of places to stay and in the near by villages.

Alexander Weddings, North Yorkshire

Dog Friendly : Yes.

Disabled Access : Yes.

Weather Dependent : Not really, although it would be a shame to not enjoy the beautiful grounds.

Photo Ops : Spoilt for choice within the grounds.

Lighting : Lots of natural light, espcially if you get to be outside.

Entertainment : Plenty of space outside but a bit restricted inside the tipi.

Food : External catering needed.

Places to stay : There are loads of places to stay and in the near by villages and you have the beauty of being able to rent the camping pods and houses on ground.

The Izaak Walton Hotel, Dovedale

Dog Friendly : Only on the grounds.

Disabled Access : Yes.

Weather Dependent : VERY! Although the inside where you get married is beautiful, nothing can beat THAT view for your ceremony and your drinks reception.

Photo Ops : Dovedale stepping stones is a very short drive away or a 15 minute walk away for plenty of opportunities, spoilt really.

Lighting : Outside is obviously fine and the inside is okay unless people hang out in the pub section, then the lighting is very low.

Entertainment : Plenty of space to provide your own lawn games and plenty of space on the dance floor for a band.

Food : The venue supplies it’s own food (which was a delicious BBQ type spread when I was there) but I bet you could get a food truck up there if pizza took your fancy.

Places to stay : The hotel itself has plenty of rooms and loads of places nearby.

Mount Cook Adventure Centre, Matlock

Dog Friendly : Only on the grounds.

Disabled Access : Yes.

Weather Dependent : Yes! Although it’s a very simple venue, the inside might get a bit stuffy if it was to rain. It’s a great place to provide outdoor activities, especially the following day when you can do archery and climbing!

Photo Ops : A couple of places on the grounds but being surrounded by such beautiful landscapes it’s worth taking a short drive to somewhere with views.

Lighting : Very light!

Entertainment : Plenty of space to provide lawn games and plenty of next day activities provided by the Adventure Centre.

Food : Loads of tasty food provided by the Centre but I don’t see why you can’t get a food truck if desired.

Places to stay : Loads of rooms at the Centre, you could probably have your whole wedding party stay there and then they’re in the right place for activities the following day (if not too hungover).

Smallshaw Cottages + Spa

Dog Friendly : Yes.

Disabled Access : Yes.

Weather Dependent : I would say very here but you can hide in the tipi.

Photo Ops : The grounds are limited to places, however you are only a short drive from other beautiful Peaks District places.

Lighting : Yes, plenty of light.

Entertainment : Plenty of space for lawn games and a band in the evening.

Food : Will need to get external catering in.

Places to stay : Being on the outskirts of Sheffield there are loads of places to stay.

Thornbridge Hall, Bakewell

Lighting : Very light.

Entertainment : Plenty of space for lawn games and a band in the evening.

Food : Provided by Thornbridge Hall and from what I’ve sampled it was just beautiful.

Places to stay : Places nearby in the surrounding villages.

Eyam Hall, Hope Valley

Dog Friendly : On the grounds and tipi, yes.

Disabled Access : Not really that well equipped for wheelchairs but it is possible.

Weather Dependent : Yes, the inside back up room isn’t the greatest for lighting, much better to be able to get married outside but you just can’t guarantee that!

Photo Ops : Spoilt for choice within the grounds but also very nearby to beautiful Peak District views.

Lighting : Outside and in the tipi absolutely fine but indoor ceremony room has very limited light.

Entertainment : Plenty of space for lawn games and a band in the evening.

Food : Will need to get external catering in.

Places to stay : Plenty of places within Eyam or the surrounding villages.

Heathy Lea, Bakewell

Places to stay : Being on the outskirts of Sheffield there are loads of places to stay and within Bakewell itself.

Woodthorpe Hall, Sheffield

Food : Provided by Losehill and from what I’ve sampled it was just beautiful.

Places to stay : You can stay in Losehill itself or plenty of places in the nearby villages.

The Maynard Arms, Grindleford

Dog Friendly : Only on the grounds.

Disabled Access : Yes.

Weather Dependent : Not really, although it would be a shame to not enjoy the beautiful grounds.

Photo Ops : The grounds are limited to places, however you are only a short drive from Padley Gorge and Burbage.

Lighting : Yes, plenty of light.

Entertainment : Plenty of space for lawn games and a band in the evening.

Food : Provided by The Maynard and from what I’ve sampled it was just beautiful.

Places to stay : You can stay in The Maynard itself or plenty of places in the nearby villages but you are also quite close to Sheffield still.
