Lucy + Dave | Ranmoor Church Sheffield + Totley Hall Farm Rustic Tipi Wedding
I’ve been friends with Lucy for 8 years now and have known Dave ever since they met, in fact I was there the night they met! Last year I asked Lucy and Dave to be my models for a location I was shooting a wedding at and probably took some of the best photos I’ve taken of a couple before (yes they are the couple on my prices page). The lighting was perfect, we were super comfortable with each other and the love quite clearly shone through them – resulting in perfect photos! Then only a month later Dave asked Lucy to marry him in a VERY romantic morning, which was great as they already had their ‘engagement shoot’ images. They knew I would be ridiculously excited so they made sure I was strapped into the back of a moving car before they told me to minimise any flailing or accidents. Oh and of COURSE I agreed to be their photographer.
The day before the wedding a few of us went down to help set up and it was so hot I’m incredibly proud of everyone for working hard. I would like to say I helped out a lot but I just played with my dog all day and brought people water, suppose that was help actually.
WEDDING DAY! Lucy got ready at her house in Sheffield with her 2 bridesmaids, Hannah and Kylie and enlisted the help of our 2 friends for hair. I think it definitely added to the relaxed atmosphere as it just felt like we were all getting ready to go out, except I was working and it wasn’t a night out but a wedding. Lucy’s dad came over to pick her up in a very suitable for the occasion chauffeurs hat.
I then whizzed off to The Ranmoor Inn where Dave and the guests were gathering and drinking ready for the ceremony at Ranmoor church. Spirits were very high and in the church you could see how excited everyone was for Lucy’s arrival. I’m finding it very hard not to write Goose as that’s our nickname for her but I will try and continue with Lucy. The ceremony was lovely, I got to hang out at the back with all the kids which was a great distraction from shedding some tears, of happiness of course!
For the reception we headed on down to Totley Hall Farm where the lovely tipi had been waiting for us all night and had an incredibly TASTY buffet from Homemade By Thelmas. I even managed to set my tripod up and put the camera on timer so I could be in the big group shot!
Now I’m not being bias but the speeches were brilliant, a proper mix of serious, emotional, funny, embarrassing but mostly there was just a lot of love. The rap by the boys was my personal favourite. To take us into the evening we kicked things off with a ceilidh led by another one of our friends, I’m so glad I was working as I joined in with one dance and it was KNACKERING, so working was a great excuse to be lazy but it sure looked like a lot of fun. Finally we were treated to some DJing by a Sheffield favourite and very talented DJ, Andy H, who just so happened to be one of Dave’s best men and oldest friends.
It really was an amazing day and I’m so happy that I got to not only be a part of it but be the one that captured the whole thing. I’m a very lucky lady to have such amazing friends and friends that want me to do my thing at their big days.
