Wedding Venues in the Peak District | My Top Picks
There are so many wedding venues in the Peak District, so if you don’t have an idea of what kind of wedding you want or where you want it, it can be a completely daunting experience. It can also be quite a laborious one if you’re not looking in the right places. Although I’ve only been doing this a few years, I’ve been to a fair few venues in my time and I have some favourites, okay they may be bias favourites, but I thought why not pop them in a little blog for you and there may be ones you’ve either never heard of, or just not seen dressed up for a wedding yet.
This one is all about wedding venues in the Peak District. Oh my GOODNESS I love the Peak District, how lucky am I that one of the most beautiful places is literally on my doorstep? There are some beautiful venues so here are my top picks, and if you’re in the process of planning your day hopefully it will bring you some inspiration. I’ve even got my own little rating system, hope you enjoy!
Edale Gathering, Edale
Dog Friendly : Yes.
Disabled Access : Yes.
Weather Dependent : Not really, although it would be a shame to not enjoy the beautiful grounds.
Photo Ops : Spoilt for choice within the grounds but also very nearby to beautiful Peak District views.
Lighting : Fine!
Entertainment : Plenty of space for lawn games and a band in the evening.
Food : Will need to get external catering in.
Places to stay : Being on the outskirts of Sheffield there are loads of places to stay and in the near by villages.
The Izaak Walton Hotel, Dovedale
Dog Friendly : Only on the grounds.
Disabled Access : Yes.
Weather Dependent : VERY! Although the inside where you get married is beautiful, nothing can beat THAT view for your ceremony and your drinks reception.
Photo Ops : Dovedale stepping stones is a very short drive away or a 15 minute walk away for plenty of opportunities, spoilt really.
Lighting : Outside is obviously fine and the inside is okay unless people hang out in the pub section, then the lighting is very low.
Entertainment : Plenty of space to provide your own lawn games and plenty of space on the dance floor for a band.
Food : The venue supplies it’s own food (which was a delicious BBQ type spread when I was there) but I bet you could get a food truck up there if pizza took your fancy.
Places to stay : The hotel itself has plenty of rooms and loads of places nearby.
Mount Cook Adventure Centre, Matlock
Dog Friendly : Only on the grounds.
Disabled Access : Yes.
Weather Dependent : Yes! Although it’s a very simple venue, the inside might get a bit stuffy if it was to rain. It’s a great place to provide outdoor activities, especially the following day when you can do archery and climbing!
Photo Ops : A couple of places on the grounds but being surrounded by such beautiful landscapes it’s worth taking a short drive to somewhere with views.
Lighting : Very light!
Entertainment : Plenty of space to provide lawn games and plenty of next day activities provided by the Adventure Centre.
Food : Loads of tasty food provided by the Centre but I don’t see why you can’t get a food truck if desired.
